SA-CIA was established from a growing need for an independent, credible and non-partisan voice for South Africa's evolving cannabis community.
 

As the country's cannabis landscape continues to develop, patients, cultivators, traditional growers, professionals and legitimate businesses often find themselves navigating a complex environment of changing legislation, regulatory uncertainty and inconsistent enforcement. SA-CIA was created to help ensure that the people and organisations participating in this emerging industry have a voice and that their lawful rights and legitimate interests are represented.
 

We advocate for constitutional and legal rights, accountable law enforcement, regulatory fairness and the responsible development of the cannabis industry. Where members of the cannabis community encounter unlawful searches or seizures, intimidation, improper enforcement or other potential infringements of their rights, we believe those concerns should be documented, heard and addressed through appropriate legal and institutional channels.
 

At the same time, our purpose extends beyond addressing problems. SA-CIA wants to contribute to building a cannabis industry that is responsible, sustainable, inclusive and economically productive, one that creates opportunities while operating within a fair and predictable regulatory framework.

Through structured advocacy, constructive engagement with government, regulators, law-enforcement agencies, industry participants and civil society, we aim to contribute to a future in which South Africa's cannabis community can develop responsibly and with confidence.
